Penguin Plunge 2020

Penguin Plunge 2020

By February, Lake Champlain is largely frozen over, the ice and layers of snow glisten in the sunshine even under blistery temperatures. However, by Burlington’s Waterfront Park, the ice and snow have been melted away to make accommodations for Special Olympic Vermont’s largest annual fundraising event, The Penguin Plunge. This event raises both awareness and money to help augment the costs that support the training and competition for athletes with intellectual disabilities. These funds work to empower athletes who might not have been able to compete otherwise, and gives them a chance to showcase their capabilities.

The 25th annual Penguin Plunge will begin on February 1st at noon, where plungers will begin jumping, marching, or running into Lake Champlain’s frigid waters. The water is bracing, but the warmth of the community participating in the event is toasty, help us reach our goal today!
