Picture this: it’s 1993, a crisp Vermont morning, and Bill Kenerson—a man with a taste for bow ties and a knack for fine fabrics—had one big problem: he couldn’t find a bow tie that met his high standards. Instead of settling, Bill took matters into his own hands. With a few yards of fabric, a local seamstress, and a big dream, he created the bow ties he'd always imagined.
Fast-forward a few years, and Bill’s love of bow ties had blossomed into something much more. He and his wife, Deb, traded their day jobs for a new adventure, transforming their home into the heartbeat of a small but mighty tie-making business. As orders grew, so did the need for space, and soon they were moving into a dedicated facility in Middlebury, Vermont, where the Beau Ties team continues crafting timeless accessories today.
It didn’t stop with bow ties. Over time, Beau Ties expanded their collection to include neckties, cummerbunds, ascots, pocket squares, scarves, and more—an entire lineup of finely crafted, Vermont-made accessories that reflect their commitment to quality. Proudly Made in the USA long before it was a trend, they’ve stayed true to their roots, giving back to the community and supporting causes like the Breast Cancer Research Fund, Save the Children, and the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
Though Bill has passed on, and Deb now enjoys her well-deserved retirement, Beau Ties carries forward with a new generation at the helm, driven by a passionate team and Vermont-made spirit. Thirty years later, they’ve become one of the largest sources of handcrafted ties and accessories in the country, adding women's headbands, tote bags, aprons, and more to their lineup. Beau Ties continues its tradition of hand-sewn quality, proving that good craftsmanship never goes out of style.
