The Special Olympics Vermont Penguin Plunge is a unique winter event where participants raise funds by taking a dip in Vermont's icy lakes. Now in its 24th year, the Special Olympics Vermont Penguin Plunge event series supports sports training and competition, health screenings, and leadership opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Vermont.
Today, Special Olympics Vermont serves 1,310 athletes (people with ID) and 400 Unified partners (people without ID who train and compete with Special Olympics athletes) offering thirteen sports and nine state-wide competitions each year.
In 2018, Penguin Plunge events raised $542,706, or nearly 40% of the Special Olympics operating budget!
All Plungers who raise $750 or more will receive a one of a kind, Penguin Plunge branded, Vermont Flannel blanket! Everyone who has signed up for the 2019 Penguin Plunge, get excited and get fundraising! If you haven’t registered yet, visit www.penguinplunge.org today!
